HAPPY DAYS
By Samuel Beckett
“Ah yes, so little to say, so little to do, and the fear so great, certain days, of finding oneself … left, with hours still to run, before the bell for sleep”
Winnie's day begins with the sound of a piercing bell. She opens her eyes and embarks on a ritual of washing, reminiscing and chatter with her monosyllabic husband. The bell rings again and another happy day draws to a close.
HAPPY DAYS is drama stripped to its bare essence. In true Beckett style it’s bitter, earthy humour shimmers with a wry beauty that will haunt its audiences. Written in 1961 it is hailed as one of the great masterpieces of post-war theatre. Don’t miss this chance to see it - ONLY ELEVEN PERFORMANCES.
” Happy Days is life enhancing; and, by the way, deeply funny. There is no play of the twentieth century I find more marvellous” Financial Times.
