Dundee Rep Theatre is an organisation that is unique in the United Kingdom and its work benefits the people of Dundee and Tayside and acts as an ambassador for the city when touring nationally and internationally.
- Audiences enjoy an award-winning modern theatre that has recently been refurbished and upgraded, which also provides full disabled access to all public areas, new seating, and has state of the art theatre equipment
- The full time ensemble company of actors means that audiences can now see more new productions, with large casts. Popular productions also tour nationally and increasingly internationally
- The company is the only resident acting company in Scotland and its work is highly regarded
- Dundee Rep’s contemporary dance company, Scottish Dance Theatre, is Scotland’s principal contemporary dance company and is the only national company based outwith the Central Belt. Led by its Artistic Director Janet Smith, its full time ensemble of dancers attracts increasing acclaim and its national touring is increasingly augmented by international performances
- Dundee Rep’s very successful Community Company activities involve ever increasing participation from members of the local community as well as international exchange work
- All elements of Dundee Rep’s work is highly regarded and attracts huge amounts of interest from Scottish, English and increasingly international press and media.
Establishing the ensemble company of actors and refurbishing the building
cost £4.5 million was a project called “New Ways of Working”
that ran 1999 – 2003 and was fully funded through the Scottish Arts
Council Lottery, Scottish Arts Council, Dundee City Council, Scottish Enterprise
Tayside, national and local trusts, support from members of the public and
increased earnings. It levered millions of new money into the local economy,
secured jobs and created new jobs and re-positioned the organisation, enabling
it to secure additional funding to continue to house Scotland’s only
ensemble company of actors and principal contemporary dance company alongside
its increasingly expanding community activities.
The organisation constantly has fund raising targets to allow it to expand on its work. We welcome all donations, however big or small with every penny of a donation awarded to Dundee Repertory Theatre Ltd going directly to supporting the public work of the company as all its overhead costs have already been met.
Dundee Repertory Theatre Ltd is a registered charity (212201), which means that any donation from a UK Taxpayer is increased in value by 28p in the pound
