+ John Buick - click for biog John Buick

Before joining Dundee Rep Ensemble, John trained at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, graduating in 1968. There are very few theatres in Scotland at which he has not performed, having trodden the boards with companies such as 7:84, Jimmy Logan, and the Scottish Theatre Company, at venues from His Majesty’s Aberdeen, Perth, Pitlochry and Dundee, to the Citizens’ and King’s in Glasgow and the Royal Lyceum and King’s in Edinburgh.

With the Ensemble he has taken roles in The Graduate, The Visit, Merlin the Magnificent, A Lie Of The Mind, Macbeth, Scenes from an Execution, Dumbstruck!, Peter Pan, Flora, the Red Menace, Twelfth Night, The Snow Queen, The Mill Lavvies, Puss in Boots, The Seagull, Mince?, The Winter’s Tale, Hansel & Gretel, Changing Kevin's Story, Plague, Cabaret, The Playboy of the Western World, All My Sons, A Family Affair, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

South of the border, John has worked at the Young Vic, Birmingham, Farnham and York theatres, and, further afield, in Belfast, Dublin, Toronto and East Germany. He has recently performed in productions of Arsenic and Old Lace, Queen of Spades and Amadeus at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, and also recently directed The Steamie there. Other productions at the Rep include Mr Puntila and His Man Matti, The Weavers and A Greater Tomorrow.


+ Keith Fleming Hannah Donaldson

Jack and the Beanstalk is Hannah’s first production with Dundee Rep Ensemble since she joined the company as part of the Graduate Scheme. She trained at RSAMD and California Institute of the Arts where she appeared in numerous productions. Her theatre credits include the title role in Antigone (The Tron), Peer Gynt (RSNO) and Long in Ice (The Arches & National Theatre of Scotland). Her TV and radio credits include work with BBC Radio 4 and STV

+ kevin lennon - click for biog Kevin Lennon

Kevin, originally from Dumfries, trained at the Samuel Beckett Centre, Trinity College, Dublin. His previous work with the Rep has been The Danny Crowe Show, Peter Pan, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Sweet Bird Of Youth, and Dr Korzcak’s Example, which toured to Japan.  Other theatre work includes: Jekyll and Hyde, The Lonesome West, A Skull In Connemara, Whisky Galore, Katie Morag (Mull Theatre), Jack And The Beanstalk, Weans In The Wood (Tron Theatre), King Matt, Dr Korzcak’s Example, Playing With Fire (TAG), Passing Places, Scotland The Brave (Borderline), Pinocchio (Cumbernauld Theatre), Chasing Angels (Complete Theatre), The Mapmaker’s Sorrow (Peacock Theatre,  Dublin), and ‘Tis Pity She’s A Whore (Theatre Babel), for which he was nominated for the Royal National Theatre Ian Charleson Award.  His film and radio work includes: Clubbing, Love Letters From The Front (R.T.E.), Ravine (RVK Films), and The Great Escape (BBC). Kevin became a full-time member of the Rep Ensemble in January.


Martin McCormickMartin McCormick

This is Martin’s first performance with the Dundee Rep Ensemble since he joined as part of the Graduate Scheme.  He trained at the RSAMD where his credits include; 8000m, Mr Puntila & his man Matti and Vassa.  He also trained at the California Institute of the Arts.  His other theatre credits include; I confess (The Arches), Maneppa (Edinburgh International Festival), All’s Well that Ends Well (RSC Complete Works Festival).  He has also worked with Itchy Coo at the UNESCO Literary Festival and school tours in Kidnapped and Blethertown Braes.  Martin has recently finished filing an episode of Taggart.

+ Irene MacDougall Irene MacDougall

Irene is a familiar face to audiences, having worked extensively for various theatres across Scotland, and is a founder member of the acclaimed Stellar Quines Theatre Company, for whom she has directed Learning the Paso Doble. Her theatre work includes The Anatomist, The Snow Queen, The Maiden Stone, Sleeping Beauty, Merlin the Magnificent, Old Times, Twelfth Night, Hamlet, Duchess of Malfi, The Crucible, Fitting for Ladies, The Rivals, Hamlet Machine, and Dr Faustus, all for the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, Widows, Unidentified Human Remains, Struggle of the Dogs and the Black, Elizabeth Gordon Quinn, Losing Venice and Dead Men for Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre, and Dangerous Corner, Comedy of Errors and Abigail’s Party for Perth Rep. With Communicado Theatre Company she performed in The Suicide and Danton’s Death.

Her work with the Dundee Rep Ensemble includes The Graduate, The Visit, Merlin the Magnificent, A Lie Of The Mind, Macbeth, Scenes from an Execution, Dumbstruck!, Peter Pan, Flora, the Red Menace, Twelfth Night, Dancing at Lughnasa, The Snow Queen, The Duchess of Malfi, Nightflights, Pants, Puss in Boots, The Seagull, Mince?, The Land of Cakes, Hansel and Gretel, Changing Kevin’s Story, Plague, Cabaret, The Playboy of the Western World, All My Sons, A Family Affair, The Princess and the Goblin, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Other performances at Dundee Rep include Intimate Exchanges, Dracula and The Hypochondriak.

Internationally Irene has performed in Russia with the Traverse’s production of Man With Connections, and her directing work has also included Chekhov’s The Seagull at RSAMD. She has also worked extensively in radio and television

+ Robert PatersonRobert Paterson

After gaining a degree in English and Drama from the University of Glasgow, Robert was awarded a scholarship to the Drama Studio, London. As an actor he has worked in most of Scotland’s theatres including productions of Woyzeck, Glengarry Glen Ross, The Comedy of Errors and Beauty and the Beast at the Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh.

Since joining Dundee Rep Ensemble he has performed in If Destroyed True, The Visit, Macbeth, Scenes from an Execution, Dumbstruck!, Peter Pan, The Danny Crowe Show, Twelfth Night, The Laird O’Grippy, The Winter’s Tale, The Snow Queen, The Mill Lavvies, The Duchess of Malfi, Nightflights, Pants, Mince? and Measure for Measure. Previous performances at the Rep include STIFF! On film and television Robert has appeared in Last Legs, one of the Newfoundland series, Sword of Honour, and Rebus. He also married Mel Gibson in Braveheart (to Catherine McCormack).

As a writer he has had plays commissioned by Radio 4 and by several theatres. A production of his adaptation of R.L. Stevenson’s Kidnapped toured Scotland as did his adaptation of Jekyll and Hyde with Alasdair McCrone. He is Associate Director at Mull Theatre where he has directed The Beauty Queen of Leenane, The Woman in Black, and Skylight. He also directed Dundee Rep’s recent Christmas show Merlin the Magnificent.

+ Anne Louise Ross Ann Louise Ross

Ann Louise's work with the Dundee Rep Ensemble includes If Destroyed True, The Visit, Merlin the Magnificent, A Lie Of The Mind, Macbeth, Scenes from an Execution, Dumbstruck!, Flora, the Red Menace, Twelfth Night, The Laird O’Grippy, The Duchess of Malfi, Nightflights, Pants, A’body’s Aberdee, The Seagull, Mince?, The Winter’s Tale, Lambrusco Nights, Hansel and Gretel, Plague, Cabaret, All My Sons, The Princess and the Goblin, A Family Affair, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She was awarded ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’ for her performance in the Rep’s production of The Winter’s Tale in the 2001 Barclay’s Theatre Awards.

Ann Louise has worked with most theatres in Scotland during her career, and besides her Dundee Rep Ensemble work her recent performances include The Glass Menagerie, at the Byre Theatre, St. Andrews, The Snow Queen, Britannia Rules, Juno and the Paycock, The Maiden Stone and The Steamie at the Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh, Greta, Widows and Bondagers for the Traverse Theatre, When I was a Girl I Used to Scream and Shout at the Brunton Theatre in Musselburgh, Earthquake Weather for Starving Artists theatre company, and Plaza at the Tron in Glasgow. Other productions at Dundee Rep include Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.

Film and TV credits include, Trainspotting, Acid House Trilogy, Split Second (Stockbridge Films) Patsy Payne’s Dream Machine (C4) Life Support, Looking After Jo Jo, Hamish Macbeth and The Key (BBC) Drifting (TT02) Horsehair (Prime Cuts Short), and The Witch’s Daughter (STV), plus numerous radio broadcasts

+ Emily Winter Emily Winter

Emily was born in Dorset, trained at East 15 Acting School in London and then felt the pull to cross the border. Her theatre work includes Cinderella at the Eden Court Theatre, The Rover at the Young Vic Studio, London, The Promise, and Pericles for Golden Age Theatre Co, Shanghied on tour with the Nippy Sweeties, and Sleeping Beauty and Pygmalion for the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh.

With the Dundee Rep Ensemble Emily has performed in The Graduate, The Visit,
A Lie Of The Mind, Macbeth, Scenes from an Execution, Dumbstruck!, Peter Pan, The Danny Crowe Show, Flora, the Red Menace, as well as The Laird O’Grippy, Dancing at Lughnasa, The Snow Queen, The Duchess of Malfi, Nightflights, Pants, Measure for Measure, The Seagull, Mince?, The Winter’s Tale, Hansel and Gretel, Plague, Cabaret, The Playboy of the Western World, All My Sons, The Princess and the Goblin, Sexual Perversity in Chicago and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Other Dundee productions include Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast. Emily also sang and hosted Dundee Rep’s late night Christmas cabaret Winter’s Wonderland in 2004.

On film and television Emily has appeared in The Camera Never Lies (Independent Productions), Strathblair (BBC), The Return and The Word (Channel 4), Close (First Reels) and The High Life (BBC 2).
